October Update

Monday, October 9, 2017

It's only been nine days...

Hot off the press, we have three announcements to make! It's all about Advisors, Events and the elephant in every room we walk in...Accreditations.

David Newman
Cloud Sustainability is pleased to announce that David Newman is joining the team as Special Advisor for the Circular Economy.

David is currently President of the World Biogas Association and Managing Director of the Bio-Based and Biodegradable Industries Association. Until September 2016 he was President of the International Solid Waste Association for four years and has worked in waste management since the late 1990s, promoting the implementation of waste management systems as a tool to sustainable development globally.

Cloud Sustainability will be working with David on developing platforms for learning on the Circular Economy and integrating and continually updating current learning and compliance modules on waste management and resource efficiency.   Cloud will also benefit from the international outreach David has in developing new markets for their learning and training platforms.
“We are excited to be able to count upon David’s experience and knowledge to build our learning platforms around the Circular Economy and to offer our suite of products to international markets, many of which David knows well”
Dan Botterill, CEO, Cloud Sustainability
“Cloud offers a unique business model which can help companies rapidly and cost- effectively implement more sustainable practices, reducing their waste, energy, water and transport costs and impacts upon the environment. I am very pleased to be able to help in enabling this both in the UK and abroad”
David Newman, President, BBIA

Food Waste

Our new offices come complete with their own events space; so what better way to 'launch' our new home,  and our new Circular Economy advisor than to invite you along to our networking event on The Circular Economy: Food Waste - Thursday 30 November.

Food waste is a global disgrace; more than 30% of all food is wasted - good food that could have been eaten.

Food production is the single biggest impact humans have on the planet’s ecosystems - it's responsible for 80% of deforestation, 70% of fresh water consumption, massive biodiversity loss and 30% of greenhouse gas emissions; yet globally, around a third of food is wasted - we're literally trashing our planet to grow food that no-one eats.

This networking event, run in conjunction with Veris, will give you the opportunity to:

  • Listen to 3 food waste specialists give a TED talk style presentation with a panel discussion and Q&A after each.
    • Technology/Innovation
    • Disruption
    • Commercial Adpotion
  • Network with like-minded people/organisations
  • Then afterwards, an option to network over music, drinks and canapés
We plan to email out soon with a confirmed programme for the event, but please register your interest below!

The event is for anyone wishing to find out more about reducing food waste and strategies for doing this; therefore it is suitably aimed at: people responsible for managing waste, HR and training roles, people working in catering, those managing business facilities; or simply anyone who wishes to learn more personally.

Everyone who registers to attend the event will also receive a free copy of the eLearning module - Preventing Waste: the Journey of Food.

CPD Accredited

Recently, we feel as though there has been an elephant in the room, so we want to set the record straight and you can read our response to recent events on our website.

Over the last few months, our efforts have been focused on ensuring our products and modules are accredited by a body that covers not just an individual area of sustainability, but the wider remit. Given our move to focus on the Circular Economy and the Sustainability agenda as a whole, it has made sense to change gear. As such we are very pleased to announce our partnership with CPD UK.

CPD UK ensure Cloud can continue to offer a structured, practical and methodical approach to learning, and help our clients, across industries, keep key staff and develop the skills & knowledge in their organisations to maintain a sustainable and competitive advantage.

Accredited CPD training means the learning activity has reached the required Continuing Professional Development standards and benchmarks. The learning value has been scrutinised to ensure integrity and quality. The CPD Certification Service provides recognised independent CPD accreditation.

"We are delighted to be working with Cloud Sustainability, they are a perfect professional partner for CPD UK as our values and their modules exist to inspire people and business to make a difference through thoughtful learning and compliant methodology. With their vision for the future, partnering with Dan and the team and helping them engage to continually improve is a decision we never had trouble making."

Martin Rowe, Head of Operations, CPD
