Who has this module been designed for?

The Module provides a fantastic foundation introduction for anyone with healthcare waste management responsibilities, and will be especially useful for those with operational responsibilities.  It helps users clearly understand how they should be handling, segregating and storing different healthcare wastes.

What will you learn?

The Module draws on guidance provided by the Department of Health on the Safe Management of Healthcare Waste.  It translates this information in a highly visual, interactive and engaging way to help users understand what actions they must take to meet their best practice and legislative requirements, as outlined within this guidance.

It includes a comprehensive introduction to healthcare waste segregation requirements and how to use the colour coded system to correctly segregate different healthcare wastes to ensure they are treated or disposed of appropriately.

The Module also introduces the concepts of sustainable waste management and looks at why management of waste according to the Waste Hierarchy is important to consider when handling healthcare wastes.
